SUPERVISOR: Supervisor, Children’s Program

SCHEDULE: Daily 8:00am – 10:00am
A. PURPOSE STATEMENT:
The YWCA Hamilton Child Care team strongly believes learning through play and exploration exemplifies meaningful learning during the early years of a child’s life. We offer Ministry of Education-licensed child care for toddlers (18-30 months) and preschoolers (30 months up to school entry).

- Position Specific Orientation
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greeting families who are dropping off their children for daycare outside our MacNab location by the main doors
- Giving families a warm welcome / smiling face as they arrive with their children
- Putting out Tri fold Childcare board at the beginning of each shift and returning it to childcare services at the end of each shift
- Directing any inquiries or concerns to Childcare staff
- Adhere to all policies as outlined in the YWCA Volunteer Training
- Connect with the coordination team with any concerns prior to the completion of your volunteer shift
- Works safely and reports all workplace hazards
- Supports YWCA Hamilton mission, vision and values

B. QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Able to commit to a recurring volunteer shift
- Desire to be a long-term volunteer
- Committed to advocating for and empowering women, girls and gender diverse individuals
- Must be able to lead and work from a feminist, anti-racist / anti-oppressive perspective for operations and strategic planning
- Willing to accept supervision and take direction
- Must maintain confidentiality and privacy
- Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal communication skills
- Able to excel in a high interaction environment
- Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector / Criminal Records Check or willingness to obtain at own cost

Must provide a TB test, proof of Tetanus (within 10 years) and proof of MMR immunizations

C. WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift and bend.
- Must be able to stand outdoors for up to 2 hours daily year-round; may be exposed to heat, humidity or cold.
